Committee
A Few Words About
Your committee
The committee consists of a number of formal Officers and a further group of "officers without portfolio" who support the club and take on duties but without formal roles.
The committee run the club on behalf of the membership and all roles will be elected not less than every two years.
The structure, organisation and procedures are detailed in the club constitution - a copy of which can be found at the bottom of this page

Emma Wilkins
Chair, DBS Verifier, Race Director
Emma loves nothing more than a run out in the hills around Nidderdale. Her favourite race is Heptonstall Fell Race (particularly the brutal hill at the end), although anything that’s long with plenty of hills will do just nicely!

Hugh Beever
Vice Chair (joint) & Membership
Hugh has lived in the Dale for over 25 years and has enjoyed trail running around the area for most of that time. More enthusiastic than accomplished, he is a keen advocate of building a club for all

Mel White
Vice Chair (joint) & Welfare
I love the outdoors in all weathers and enjoy nothing more than exploring the trails and enjoying surrounding nature and wonderful views. I enjoy a bit of competition in races but also just getting out for the fun of it! By day I am a GP and mum of 2. In my spare time I volunteer for our local mountain rescue team.

Stuart Paton
Treasurer
Stuart moved to the dale in 2021 and was thrilled to find other people to explore the trails with. He’s currently trying to up his distance in between looking after a little baby and trying to catch up on sleep

Caroline Ball
Club Championships Administrator
After being a lifelong fair weathered runner, I joined Nidderdale Fell and Trail in 2023 and have not looked back since! 12 months later, I ran my first ultra. Running with NFAT makes being pushed out your comfort zone easy somehow. I now love mud and a headtorch run after dark!

Gillian Macfarlane
Social Secretary (joint) and Equipment
I started running over 40 years ago, in the early ‘80’s. Back then, when the legs still wanted to work, cross country and fell running were my favourite thing! These days I’m just happy to still be able to get out there and run, albeit at a much more leisurely pace. I’ll be the one bringing up the rear on club runs or plodding around the glorious Nidderdale countryside with my Labrador

Nigel Fawcett
Race Director
Taking up running in my early 40’s I soon realized that what I enjoyed most was running off road across the moors. I like to use my running as a way of exploring and when time allows enjoy getting out into the more remote places in Nidderdale and Upper Wharfedale

Becca White
Run Rotas
Happiest running on the trails with my dogs. Moved to Pateley nearly two years ago and still finding new paths to discover. Wharfedale half this year was a great achievement for me as first half marathon in years.

Shona Read Lang
Health, Safety & Training, IT & Media Support
A life-long running hater, I realised one day when I was out for a walk that I wanted to run down the hill, and so I discovered trail running and fell in love with it. Through trail running, I’ve made some fantastic friends, discovered places that I would probably never otherwise have seen, and completed challenges that I’d never have dreamt of.

Mel Mawer
Social Secretary (joint) and Agg Soc Liaison

Nic Wright
Secretary & Comms
I moved to Pateley Bridge in 2016 and Nidderdale is my favourite spot on the planet! Since joining NFAT I have found a passion for being out on the trails with the club and alone. Being up a hill is my happy place and I’m so lucky to be able to do this with such great bunch of people.

Matt Darby
IT & Media
Since arriving in Nidderdale in 2023 from much flatter ground, I’ve fallen in love with the hills, trails, and stunning views — even if my legs aren’t quite on board yet. As a fairly new runner, exploring them with such a friendly, welcoming club makes every run even better.
